Unlimited CLEP Support

In the beginning, credit-by-exam was the bread and butter of the Lumerit Scholar program. And while CLEP certainly isn’t for everyone, we still believe it’s an effective and affordable ways to complete your college education.

For 12 years, we’ve helped thousands of students study for and pass CLEP exams using our flashcard study system, Trailmarker, and other resources to help guide you along your CLEP journey.

All of these resources are included in your Lumerit Scholar subscription.

36,000+ Affordable College Courses

Lumerit Scholar is able to save you thousands of dollars by helping you take classes outside of the college system.

Colleges have budgets to balance. They have campuses to maintain, libraries to build, sports teams to outfit, and professors to tenure. And they use your tuition to do that, even if you never do so much as attend a tailgate party.

So, we’ve cultivated a library of over 36,000 online college courses offered from various universities and institutions that you can take without the traditional college markup.

After all, we don’t have a football team or tenured faculty, just thousands of students who graduate without a single dollar of debt.

Course Accreditation

We've worked with collegiate institutions around the country to ensure every credit you earn will successfully transfer into the school of your choice. We offer two different credentials for our students—regional accreditation and ACE recommended credit.

Regional Accreditation

Regional accreditation is the golden standard in higher education. It is the accreditation of every state and Ivy League school. Any college that accepts transfer credits also accepts regionally accredited courses. To offer regional accreditation, Lumerit has partnered with various regionally accredited institutions around the country who have reviewed the curriculum and award credit for the courses.

ACE Recommendation

Additionally, Lumerit has had our courses reviewed and recommended for credit by the American Council on Education (ACE). In this instance, ACE is not granting credit for a particular subject, but rather officially recommending that your school should grant credit for the course you’ve completed. This is the same credential as CLEP, DSST, and other well-known college exams. ACE recommendation is a less expensive option, but depending on the target institution, it can sometimes limit transferability.

One of our Academic Advisors can help you decide which type of accreditation is best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most of these courses award General Education credit (typically completed in your first 2 years of college). The specific areas where the courses fit are a little different for each degree major, so it's best to ask a Lumerit Academic Advisor or Academic Coach for placement information.

  • Each of our Lumerit courses are self paced and you choose any time in the next year to start. After you start the course, you have 8 weeks to complete it (limited extensions are available). The Signature Leadership Courses are the only courses with specific availability, due to the active involvement of a course facilitator. You can find those dates by visiting the Signature Leadership Course section.

  • In this area, your coach is invaluable. They will help you decide which kind of transcription you need and will walk you through the best ways to get it.

Generally, the process will look something like this:

    Regional Transcription

We'll take care of sending your course grade to the transcription institution. Then your coach will help you request a transcript when you’re ready to transfer your credit into a college.

    ACE Recommendation

We recommend waiting to request an ACE transcript until you're applying to your college. (You can take a course at any time. Just hold off on contacting ACE for a transcript.) Once you've finished all your ACE courses, you’ll contact ACE to add them to a single transcript. Then your coach will help you transfer this credit to your college.

  • Not for the vast majority of our courses. These courses are presented through all-inclusive online portals so there are no unexpected fees. While some courses do require the purchase of outside books, the cost of extra materials will not exceed $50. The 7 courses that require outside study materials are: the Signature Leadership Courses (3), Comparative Worldviews, Social Justice from a Biblical Perspective, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, and Community Service Learning.

  • We'd love to answer your questions. You can call 866-989-5432, ext. 1.
